Hello, and welcome to the pre launch of Counterfactual, the new podcast brought to you by the Competition Law and Foreign Investment Review section of the Canadian Bar Association. My name is Charles Tingley, and I'm Chair of the Section's Digital Media Committee. Our committee is tasked with developing a podcast to complement existing section services, and enrich member experience and professional and social connection. I'm delighted to introduce the Counterfactual podcast and to give you a sneak preview of what's to come. We chose the name Counterfactual to reflect our objective of lending new and fresh perspectives to the work that we do. The people in industries that shape and are affected by that work. We aim to address the world as it presents itself today, as well as the world as it might be based on the latest developments and policy proposals. To do all this Counterfactual will invite guests from within and outside the section to share their expertise and insights with our members and other listeners. Do you want to learn more about trending industries like Bitcoin, cannabis, gaming and blockchain? Are you interested in gaining further insights into the workings of the Competition Bureau and the Investment Review Division of ISED? How about getting to know their leadership and staff better? Would you be keen to understand how experts in other fields including business, politics, academia, public security and other areas, think about issues that intersect with Competition and Foreign Investment Review law? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Counterfactual aims to deliver a regular dose of insight in a fresh format that is new and exciting, and a lot less formal than your average brownbag. The counterfactual podcast is included in your membership. In fact, it's freely available to anyone who'd like to listen. That's right. This is a new extra offering by the section. Pure innovation at no added cost to you the listener. There are no prices to drip, no wages to fix and no platform to dominate. At least not yet. No, just a new concept to inform and hopefully entertain. We look forward to providing further announcements as we get closer to launch. Please keep an eye or an ear out for the first of what we hope to be many episodes of the counterfactual podcast. Thanks for listening.
